azmadik fotografiks is the collection of abstract photography by artist kevin stephen hupfer surveying digital media. completed in late winter 2020, the images proceed liquid crystal display to a printed reality. long ago computer screens were salvation from a cruel world, this is no longer true. the images, once subtractive ephemera, are now tactile objects in visible light and space. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, Hupfer creates work through labour-intensive processes which can be seen explicitly as a personal exorcism ritual. he absorbs the tradition of remembrance art into daily practice but defy’s canonical genre labels. Work materialises to in-between spaces for reformulation of ephemeral collective experiences.
